University of Michigan Rugby Mexico 2006:

Real Travel Company now has its first trip successfully completed! The University of Michigan Rugby team used the simple and effective model of RTC for a spring break trip to Mexico. Forty-three student athletes spent three separate days in Mexico City volunteering with Casa Alianza's Covenant House, EDNICA, and Fundacion Renicimiento. They played soccer, rugby, and even a little bit of basketball to break the ice and have fun with the kids. Additionally, the rugby team spent a full day working to improve the living conditions of Fundacion Renacimiento, a project with just under a $1000 materials budget. Also in Mexico City, the team played rugby against some local teams and saw local sights, including the pyramids of the sun and moon. After all that, they headed to Acupulco to blow off some steam and immerse themselves in the local traditions of relaxation and enjoyment. Cheers to everyone who participated or supported this trip, it was a great way to start out on the right foot for Real Travel Company.

(This was an 11 day trip for $765 per person. It includes their airfare, lodging, ground transport, local excursions, some meals, socials with opposing rugby clubs, and most importantly approximately $8000 in donations to charities in Mexico City working with homeless children.)
